Yarrow is one of my most favourite plants. It is so beautiful. I use it at times to decorate my space, as it grows in abundance here. I also use it to make tea or flavour pure green tea. It has a wonderful earthy and somewhat bitter but still very pleasant flavour.

 Healing through nature

My doctor who is helping me get through these weeks said that I should be spending more time with nature. I do it intuitively too, and nature has always been my source of healing. Change in nature, the unfolding transition from summer to winter, makes me think about change in my life. Many have asked what my plans are, but at this moment I simply don't know. I plan more concretely only for the short term while long term plans are crystallising. Some aspects of my life are empowering, such as my relationship and research. Others, such as the work environment, are constraining.

I've been contemplating a lot various reasons why humans tolerate environments that are detrimental for their mental health. There are so many reasons. It is the loss of income that is terrifying. For some - oftentimes in academia because it is so international - it is migration issues. It could be not knowing where to get support from. Very often I observe how fellow humans tolerate violence or leave.

Being with nature puts everything into perspective. I was reading the news recently and it mentioned the age of the sun which is around 4.6 billion years. When I focus on the age of celestial bodies and the vastness of the sea, it becomes easy to see far beyond human individuals in positions of power.
